Auburn forward Anfernee McLemore expected to miss four months

Auburn forward Anfernee McLemore has undergone surgery for a dislocated ankle and is expected to be sidelined for at least four months.

The sophomore suffered the injury on Saturday during the team’s loss at South Carolina.

Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl said on Monday’s SEC coaches teleconference that McLemore’s surgery went “extremely well.”

Pearl also mentioned that original timeline for McLemore’s return was 4-6 months, but that the success of the surgery should put the recovery time on the lower end of that range.

McLemore averaged 7.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this season, while adding a league-leading 2.7 blocks per contest.

The loss of McLemore will likely result in even more minutes for Chuma Okeke, Horace Spencer, and Malik Dunbar.

The Tigers host rival Alabama on Wednesday at Auburn Arena.
