In a move that should surprise no one, South Carolina head coach Frank Martin has received a four-year contract extension after leading the Gamecocks to a 25-9 season.
The deal will keep Martin in Columbia through the 2021-2022 season.
What It Means
- The entire week wasn’t bad for South Carolina fans. Of course, this was probably the best news that South Carolina fans could receive after receiving a gut punch the day before. The NCAA confirmed that it mistakenly invited the Gamecocks to the Big Dance before turning around and admitting that it was an error.
- The program is in good hands for a while. Martin is obviously an outstanding coach, and the longer he stays in Columbia, the more successful the program will be. In a challenging SEC landscape with so many incredible coaches now in the picture, you need a coach like Martin at the helm.
