Former Arkansas head coach John Pelphrey has officially joined Avery Johnson’s staff at Alabama.
Pelphrey spent this past season as a college basketball analyst on the SEC Network.
He served as the head coach of the Razorbacks from 2007-2011, but a mediocre 69-59 record led to his firing. After that, he spent four years as an assistant coach under Billy Donovan at Florida (which was his second go around as a Gators assistant).
The former Kentucky forward knows the game and has experienced success as an assistant, so this is a good move on Johnson’s part.
Pelphrey knows the SEC well and can be a major contributor from a recruiting and skill development standpoint.
