Texas A&M won its second straight game with a 60-43 win over Missouri in Columbia.
The Tigers managed to limit Admon Gilder (9 points), Tyler Davis (8), and Robert Williams (3), but they couldn’t stop Texas A&M’s supporting cast.
Tonny Trocha-Morelos led the way for the Aggies with 18 points, while JC Hampton added 13.
Of course, the biggest lift for Billy Kennedy’s team came on the defensive end of the floor. The Tigers only shot 25% from the field, and it’s 43 points was the program’s lowest home point total since Missouri Arena opened in 2004.
Terrence Phillips was the only Missouri player in double-figures with 15 points. Kevin Puryear and Frankie Hughes each had 8.
The Aggies have now won three of four overall, and will wrap up the regular season at home against Kentucky on Saturday.
Blake’s Analysis:
I said it in yesterday’s predictions post, and I’ll say it again:
The Aggies aren’t a team I’d want to see on my side of the bracket in the SEC tournament.
There have undoubtedly been growing pains for this team this season as it has adjusted to losing key players from last year. However, while Texas A&M still has a tendency to turn the ball over too much, it’s a team that has the tools to pull off a few upsets in Nashville.
And the biggest reason has to do with what we saw in this game. When Davis and Williams are limited, the Aggies need other players stepping up and making big plays. Both Trocha-Morelos and Hampton did that, and those two making key contributions going forward will help Texas A&M build momentum heading into postseason play.
How Kennedy’s squad plays against Kentucky this weekend will tell us a lot about whether the SEC’s preseason No. 3 team can keep its momentum going and make a deep run next week.
