It’s never too early to talk college basketball. More specifically, it’s never too early to talk SEC basketball.
Those on the national level may disagree. After all, the SEC has been given the “weak” label for a few years now from a variety of media members across the country.
That narrative was partly destroyed this past March when three SEC teams made it to the Elite Eight – a feat that hadn’t been accomplished in this league since 1986.
And if you were wondering, that narrative should go from partly destroyed to completely destroyed this upcoming season.
That’s because the 2017-18 season could potentially be a landmark year for the conference. It’s not a stretch to believe that the season could feature another set of three with the talent to make it back-to-back years with an SEC-heavy Elite Eight.
So, to prepare you for the road ahead and help you understand just how exciting the upcoming season could be, I’m launching a “100 Reasons to Watch SEC Hoops in 2017-2018” series.
Several days each week from now through October, I’ll take a look at a specific player/storyline/etc. that’ll be worth watching as we head into the new season.
It will be a unique series that every SEC basketball fan – and the many soon-to-be SEC basketball fans – will hopefully learn from and enjoy.
The countdown will start with No. 100, which will publish here on Southeast Hoops on May 19.
For those who already know and are excited, and for those who don’t know but will soon enough, the SEC basketball experience will be can’t-miss during the 2017-18 season.
Come along for what is sure to be a thrilling ride.
