Billy Kennedy has picked up another player in his 2017 recruiting class with the addition of John Walker III.
Walker is rated as a 3-star small forward by 247Sports. He’s a Texas native that played high school basketball at Fort Bend Marshall in Missouri City.

He’s the fifth member of the Aggies’ 2017 class, which is headlined by the 4-star duo of small forward Savion Flagg and shooting guard Jay Jay Chandler.
Lovell’s Analysis:
Four of the five players in this class are from the state of Texas, which is no surprise given Kennedy’s success in recruiting the area since his arrival in 2011.
The bulk of Texas A&M’s rotation this season will feature Texans. Tyler Davis, D.J. Hogg, Admon Gilder, and J.J. Caldwell are all from the state, and those four along with Robert Williams could be the team’s most important players.
It’s obviously unlikely that Walker will see playing time this season due to the depth that Kennedy will have at his disposal. However, it’s never bad to be a part of the 18th-best class nationally and fifth-best in the SEC.
Kennedy has a good track record of developing talent in College Station, and Walker’s athleticism and versatility will allow him to grow within the team’s system.
After an inconsistent ’16-17 season, the Aggies should once again find themselves competing for an SEC crown.
