Jared Butler, a 4-star point guard in the 2018 recruiting class, has narrowed his list to three schools.
Alabama, Baylor, and Virginia are still in the mix for the Riverside Academy (LA) prospect, who will likely make his decision in October.
Butler has already taken official visits to all three schools – Virginia on August 31, Alabama on September 9, and Baylor on September 15.
He is No. 83 recruit in the ESPN Top 100 for 2018.
Lovell’s Analysis
Avery Johnson and company offered Butler back in May and continue to make their push for landing Louisiana’s second-best point guard in this class.
And while the Rivals article above mentions Virginia as the likely front-runner at this point, the draw of playing for a successful NBA point guard can’t be overlooked.
Just ask Collin Sexton, who chose to come to Tuscaloosa and further his skillset under Johnson’s tutelage. Few programs in the country can replicate that type of experience, as Johnson played at an elite level for many years in the NBA and managed to win a championship with the San Antonio Spurs.
So, as long as he’s the head coach at Alabama, the Crimson Tide will have a shot at top-notch point guard prospects.
