Jordan Phillips commits to Arkansas

Jordan Phillips, a 3-star shooting guard in the 2018 recruiting class, has committed to Arkansas.

The Grace Preparatory Academy (Arlington, TX) product announced his commitment via Twitter.

Phillips had also received offers from Fresno State, SMU, and Tulsa.

Phillips’ commitment gives Arkansas head coach Mike Anderson five commits for the 2018 class.

Ethan Henderson (4-star PF), Keyshawn Embery (4-star PG), Isaiah Joe (3-star SG), and Desi Sills (3-star PG) have also verbally committed to the Razorbacks for next year.

Lovell’s Analysis

Anderson has certainly compiled an impressive group of talent for next season.

With the Phillips commitment, the Hogs have moved to No. 15 overall in the 247Sports team rankings for 2018, which is a good place to be at this point.

Henderson, Joe, and Sills have all been committed for over a year now, with Embery and Phillips both joining the mix within the past month.

Considering that Arkansas is a team loaded with seniors this season, it’s easy to understand why Anderson and his staff have been going after a versatile group of talent like this one in order to keep the momentum going.

Remember, this program was a bad call or two away from knocking off defending national champion North Carolina in the second round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament.

As long as a few bench players from last season can expand their roles this year, the Razorbacks should once again be in the mix for a tournament berth.

And given the talent lineup that’s been compiled for next year’s class, it seems likely that those postseason chances will be around for a while.
