Joe Lunardi has released his official bracketology for January 4, with eight SEC teams currently projected to make the field.
That number puts the SEC at second in terms of the conferences with the most teams included, as the ACC leads the way with nine.
Here’s how the projected seeding looks for the eight teams:
- #4 Kentucky
- #4 Texas A&M
- #6 Tennessee
- #6 Arkansas
- #7 Auburn
- #8 Florida
- #9 Missouri
- #10 Alabama
Georgia is included on the Next Four Out line.
The SEC currently has six teams in the top 25 of the RPI and eight teams in the top 50.
Lovell’s Analysis
There’s a reason why the SEC wanted teams to schedule tougher, and we’re already seeing the reason why.
The league is sitting pretty in the RPI right now, so it’s no shock to see this many teams projected to make the field.
As I always say, January bracketology is January bracketology, and there’s a lot of basketball to be played before we know for sure which teams will be in and which teams will be out.
However, it’s clear that the numbers love what the conference has done to this point, and that should result in at least seven teams going dancing.
