Kentucky uses hot shooting to earn dominant win over Alabama

Kentucky shot 84.2 percent in the second half to pick up a convincing 86-63 win over Alabama in the 2018 SEC Tournament semifinals.

The Wildcats shot 64.3 percent for the game and had their best outside shooting performance of the season in knocking down 12 of 18 attempts from 3-point range.

The leader of that 3-point barrage was Wenyen Gabriel, who connected on all seven of his 3-pointers. The sophomore finished with a game-high 23 points in 25 minutes of action.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 19 points and eight assists, while P.J. Washington contributed 14 points and eight rebounds.

Alabama guard Collin Sexton, who entered the game averaging 29 points in the tournament, finished with 21 points on 6-of-14 shooting.

Despite playing without forward Donta Hall, the Crimson Tide won the battle on the boards and limited Kentucky to only one offensive rebound, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the stellar shooting performance from the Wildcats.

Kentucky assisted on 20 of its 27 made field goals and led for all but two minutes and eight seconds in the game.

John Calipari’s team will advance to Sunday’s championship game to take on either Tennessee or Arkansas.
