After trailing by seven nearly midway through the first half, Texas A&M regrouped and scored a convincing 86-65 over defending national champion North Carolina in the West Region.
The Aggies were excellent from the field in shooting 51.7 percent, which included going 10 of 24 from 3-point range.
Billy Kennedy’s squad held the Tar Heels to just 33.3 percent shooting from the floor and 19.4 percent from beyond the arc.
TJ Starks led the way for the Aggies with 21 points and five assists, while center Tyler Davis posted 18 points and nine rebounds.
Texas A&M forward Robert Williams scored eight points and notched a game-high 13 rebounds.
Joel Berry II paced North Carolina with 21 points. Luke May earned a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The Aggies were dominant on the glass and captured a 50-36 advantage in total rebounds.
Texas A&M will advance to the Sweet 16 to take on Michigan on Thursday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
