The final four is set for the 2018 NIT, as Mississippi State and three others will tip off at Madison Square Garden on March 27.
The Bulldogs will take on fellow 4-seed Penn State in one semifinal, while No. 2 Utah and No. 4 Western Kentucky go at it in the other semifinal game.
Ben Howland’s squad scored a dominant 79-56 win at Louisville on Tuesday to earn their spot in New York, and Penn State picked up an 85-80 win at Marquette.
Meanwhile, Western Kentucky picked up its second straight road win with a victory at Oklahoma State on Wednesday. Utah advanced by scoring an overtime win at Saint Mary’s.
Should Mississippi State and Western Kentucky advance to the championship game, it would feature Hilltoppers’ coach Rick Stansbury taking on his former team.
Stansbury served as the head coach at the school from 1998-2012 and started as an assistant in Starkville eight years before that.
