Tennessee guard Chris Darrington will transfer from the program.

The school announced his decision on Friday, with Rick Barnes offering additional comments:

“We appreciate all of Chris’ contributions on and off the court this past season,” Barnes said. “We wish him nothing but the best moving forward.”

The JUCO transfer spent just one season in Knoxville and averaged 2.6 points in 8.4 minutes per game. He appeared in just four of Tennessee’s final 10 games.

Darrington’s exit leaves the Vols with two open scholarships for next season.

James Daniel was Tennessee’s lone senior this year, and Barnes should return the bulk of his roster after grabbing share of the SEC regular season title.

Early 2019 projections have the Vols as a potential preseason top 10 team.
