Mississippi State guard Nick Weatherspoon will return to school for his sophomore season.
Weatherspoon declared his intentions to enter the 2018 NBA draft on April 5, but took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce that he’d be back in Starkville.
The 6-2 guard averaged 10.8 points and shot 47.9 percent from the field in 28.4 minutes per game during his freshman season.

Weatherspoon scored in double figures in 12 SEC games this year before suffering a scary fall in the team’s SEC Tournament quarterfinal game against Tennessee.
He avoided pelvic fracture and suffered only a bruised bone, which allowed him to return to action in Mississippi State’s NIT second round contest against Baylor.
His brother, Quinndary, also declared for the NBA draft but has not made a decision as to whether he’ll return to school.
Mississippi State went 25-12 overall this season and made it all the way to the NIT Final Four before losing to eventual champion Penn State.
Despite losing Xavian Stapleton and Eli Wright to transfer this offseason, Ben Howland should return the bulk of his rotation for next season.
The Bulldogs will also sport a top-notch freshman group, as they currently rank in the top 10 in the 2018 class with 5-star power forward Reggie Perry and 4-star prospects Robert Woodard and DJ Stewart already signed.
