Ole Miss Basketball: UAB transfer Nick Norton set to visit in May

UAB graduate transfer Nick Norton will reportedly visit Ole Miss in May.

He is also expected to take visits to Minnesota, Ohio State, and Purdue.

Norton announced on April 2 that he would leave the UAB program and pursue other options as a grad transfer.

The 5-10 point guard averaged 7.5 points and 4.9 assists in 29.4 minutes per game this past season. It was his first action on the court after suffering a torn ACL during the first game of the 2016-17 season.

During his sophomore campaign, Norton earned All-Conference USA Third Team honors in averaging 8.9 points and 5.1 assists per contest. His 3.0 assist/turnover ratio led the league and ranked 18th nationally.

New Ole Miss head coach Kermit Davis certainly has familiarity with Norton, with the two facing off several times during their previous stops at Middle Tennessee and UAB, respectively.

Ole Miss loses guards Deandre Burnett and Markel Crawford from this year’s team, but does return leading scorer Terence Davis (13.8 ppg) and fellow double-digit scorers Breein Tyree (10.8 ppg) and Bruce Stevens (10.8 ppg).

The Rebels finished 12-20 overall, with former head coach Andy Kennedy stepping down from his position in mid-February.
