LSU guard Tremont Waters will return to Baton Rouge for his sophomore season after withdrawing from the 2018 NBA draft.
Waters announced his decision via Instagram on Tuesday night.
He declared for the daft back on April 24, but chose not to sign with an agent so that he could retain his college eligibility.
The 5-11 point guard averaged 15.9 points and 6.0 assists in 33.3 minutes per game during the 2017-18 season.
He was named to the SEC All-Freshman team was second only to Alabama guard Collin Sexton in overall freshman scoring.
Waters’ return is certainly a huge boost for LSU head coach Will Wade, as the Tigers return a strong nucleus and add a dynamic freshman class to the mix.
Wade has compiled a top-five group that features two 5-star prospects in forwards Naz Reid and Emmitt Williams. LSU also adds 4-star combo guard Ja’Vonte Smart and 4-star power forward Darius Days, as well as JUCO transfer guard Marlon Taylor.
The Tigers finished 18-15 overall in Wade’s first season with the team and advanced to the second round of the NIT.
