Update (8/13): It was announced on Monday that Walton has decided to reopen his recruiting.
Jaykwon Walton, a 4-star guard in the 2019 class, has committed to Mississippi State.
The 6-6 shooting guard announced his decision on Saturday after narrowing his list to seven schools back in June.
Walton chose Ben Howland’s squad over Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Louisville, and Memphis.

According to 247Sports, he ranks as the No. 2 player in Alabama and the No. 7 shooting guard in the 2019 class.
He’s the first commitment for Howland and company in next year’s class.
