Five SEC teams are currently in the field in the newest bracketology update from ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi.
As expected, Tennessee leads the way after a huge win over Gonzaga, with Rick Barnes’ team sitting at a No. 2 seed at the moment.
Next in line is Auburn, who comes in at a 3-seed in what’s been an excellent start for Jared Harper and company.
No. 5 Mississippi State, No. 6 Kentucky, and No. 10 Florida round out Lunardi’s group of SEC teams.
Meanwhile, LSU is listed as the first team out after a 7-2 start on the season.
Having only five teams projected to make the NCAA Tournament at this point is a bit disappointing for the conference, especially considering that preseason predictions placed as many as nine teams in the field.
But with non-conference struggles and key injuries throughout the league, it’s put the SEC in an interesting situation just a few weeks ahead of conference play.
