Georgia assistant Amir Abdul-Rahim has been named the new head coach at Kennesaw State.
He joined Tom Crean’s staff last season and was clearly an appealing choice for the Owls given his background in the state.
Prior to joining the Bulldogs, Abdur-Rahim spent four seasons under former Texas A&M head coach Billy Kennedy in College Station.

Georgia went through a rebuilding year in Abdur-Rahim’s one season with the program, with Crean’s group finishing 11-21 overall.
However, thanks to one of the nation’s top 2019 recruiting classes, the team will likely get back on track in a hurry.
Crean will welcome in the nation’s No. 2 prospect in 5-star shooting guard Anthony Edwards, and he’ll be joined by a trio of 4-star talents in Christian Brown, Jaykwon Walton, and Toumani Camara.
Combining the impressive group of newcomers with the return of several key contributors should allow the Bulldogs to compete for an NCAA Tournament bid next season.
