With many of the top recruits in the 2019 class already committed, teams throughout the SEC have a pretty clear picture of what newcomers they’ll be adding to the roster.
There are still several elite talents on the board who have yet to announce their program of choice, and players like Jaden McDaniels and Trendon Watford could add even more firepower for a few SEC teams.
However, several programs around the conference have set themselves apart in the national team rankings, as six teams currently rank in the top 25.
And once again, it’s Kentucky that has compiled the best class in the country after the recent addition of 4-star forward Johnny Juzang.
John Calipari now has five commits in the class, with Juzang joining Tyrese Maxey, Kahlil Whitney, Keion Brooks, and Dontaie Allen.
Meanwhile, Florida and Georgia both find themselves in the top 10 while Auburn, Alabama, and Tennessee aren’t that far behind.
Here’s where all 14 SEC teams stand in the rankings, courtesy of 247Sports:
- No. 1 Kentucky
- No. 7 Florida
- No. 9 Georgia
- No. 17 Auburn
- No. 18 Alabama
- No. 21 Tennessee
- No. 35 Texas A&M
- No. 40 South Carolina
- No. 41 Ole Miss
- No. 44 Vanderbilt
- No. 55 Mississippi State
- No. 57 Missouri
- No. 87 LSU
- No. 148 Arkansas
Four new coaches have joined the conference, and that should continue to make things competitive moving forward.
The SEC landed seven teams in the NCAA Tournament this past season and had two teams make the Elite Eight for the second time in three seasons.
If the league continues to bring in some of the nation’s best players, there should be even more opportunities for postseason success.
