Villanova transfer guard Jahvon Quinerly has signed with Alabama.
The 6-1 freshman, who is a former 5-star recruit in the 2018 class, was also considering Pittsburgh after taking an official visit to the school.
While NCAA transfer rules force underclassmen to sit out a year, the Crimson Tide could pursue a waiver that would allow him to be eligible for next season.
Source told @Stadium that Quinerly will apply for a waiver from the NCAA to try and play this season at Alabama. Crimson Tide perimeter could be damn good with Kira Lewis, Beetle Bolden, wing John Petty and Quinerly. https://t.co/8iLPfYAfmZ

Alabama head coach Nate Oats expressed his excitement for what his newest signing will bring to the program, courtesy of the team’s official website:
“Jahvon is a dynamic guard that plays best in the open floor. He’s a perfect fit with the way we play,” Oats said. “He’s a playmaker that makes plays for both himself and his teammates. He makes everyone around him better. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him and his family throughout this recruiting process. He comes from a great close-knit family and is the type of high-character individual we’re looking to bring into our program here.”
Quinerly averaged 3.2 points in 9.1 minutes per game last season for the Wildcats, and it was evident that he had trouble adjusting to Villanova’s slower style of play on offense.
The Tide should be the exact opposite of that as Oats brings his up-tempo approach to Tuscaloosa, which could allow Quinerly to thrive due to his quickness and playmaking abilities.
