Will Wade continues to add dynamic players to the 2017-18 LSU basketball roster.

The Tigers have received a commitment from Southern Utah transfer Randy Onwuasor, who will be eligible to play immediately.

The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 23.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game for the Thunderbirds last season.

Onwuasor sat out the previous season after transferring from Texas Tech.

Lovell’s Analysis:

I talked about this on a recent episode of the Southeast Hoops podcast, and how Onwuasor could impact LSU.

He certainly has a scoring ability that will be valued on a team that lost leading scorer Antonio Blakeney, but more importantly, his overall skill set meshes well with what Wade wants to do within his system.

The Tigers will need athletic scoring guards to excel on both ends of the floor, and that’s what Onwuasor will be able to do.

Although his addition doesn’t put LSU in the top half of the SEC just yet, it makes things interesting regarding where this team could finish in the standings.

With Wade’s ability to add solid pieces to the lineup, LSU’s turnaround could be sooner rather than later.
