Kentucky and Kansas are widely considered the favorites for the 6-3 guard’s services next season.
Lovell’s Analysis
Let’s get this out of the way first: I’d be shocked if Quickley doesn’t pick Kentucky.
The Wildcats have been the favorite for a while now, and a Kansas commitment would surprise a whole lot of people in college basketball circles.
So, what would this commitment mean for Kentucky?
Well, for starters, it would show the college basketball world that John Calipari hasn’t lost his touch on the recruiting trail. But since we all already know that, let’s go a bit deeper.
Quickley is definitely an elite athlete that can excel on both ends of the floor, with his outside shooting being a major positive. That’s an area that could be a weakness for the Wildcats this year, so adding a perimeter threat at the point guard position would certainly be a welcomed addition.
His athleticism should also allow him to get to the paint and be a playmaker off the dribble as he continues to develop.
Long story short? This would be another tremendous prospect in a long line of them for Calipari.
