The news comes a day after Auburn assistant coach Chuck Person was arrested for his role in an FBI corruption investigation into the world of college basketball recruiting.

Montgomery is ranked No. 31 overall in ESPN’s Top 100 for the 2018 class.
According to Montgomery’s father, the 6-10 prospect made the decision because “he hasn’t really gone through the process of being recruited and he wants to experience that.”
Lovell’s Analysis
The quote from Montgomery’s father obviously doesn’t tell the whole story.
This will be the first one many decommits coming on the recruiting trail following yesterday’s groundbreaking events.
For Auburn, this comes at a time when the program seemed to finally be ready to turn the corner. I’ve talked all offseason along about the Tigers having the potential to be a top five team in the SEC this year, but the entire landscape has now changed.
And with the fallout only beginning, it’s impossible to know just how far this program could fall.
As for Montgomery, he will have plenty of interest from power conference schools around the country given his size and skillset.
