Simons is ranked as the second-best shooting guard and No. 8 overall player in ESPN’s Top 100 for the 2018 recruiting class.
He has received interest from several other SEC schools, including Florida, LSU, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt.
Lovell’s Analysis
As soon as Simons announced his decision to step away from his commitment with the Cardinals, it was obvious that he’d garner a ton of attention.
It appeared early on that Florida and Vanderbilt would be high on the list, with Florida State also being near the top.
And now Avery Johnson and Alabama join the mix to try and lure the talented playmaker to Tuscaloosa.
Johnson and company compiled a tremendous 2017 class that included Collin Sexton and John Petty, so it’s clear that the Crimson Tide will continue to go for top players as long as the former NBA Coach of the Year is at the helm.
At this point, there are still a lot of unknowns regarding where Simons could lean given that no official visits have been scheduled.
Once those come into play, then we’ll all have a better idea of who may be in the best position to add the former Louisville commit.
For now, there will definitely be more power conference offers coming for the talented guard.
