Texas A&M suspends three players for violation of school policy

Texas A&M has announced suspensions for Robert Williams, Admon Gilder, and D.J. Hogg for violation of school policy.

Gilder and Hogg served their one-game suspensions in Friday night’s 72-46 exhibition win over Tarleton State.

Williams, serving a three-game suspension, missed that game and will be sidelined for the Aggies’ regular season opener against West Virginia and the home opener against UC Santa Barbara.

Texas A&M is already without the services of point guard J.J. Caldwell, who the school announced would be suspended for the first five games of the season.

Lovell’s Analysis

Well, having four of your five likely starters suspended for one or more games to open up the season isn’t all that great.

There are high expectations for the Aggies heading into this season, and not having Williams or Caldwell for that West Virginia game in Germany is certainly a tough blow.

And that’s especially the case for a team that struggled mightily with turnovers last year.

So, at least for now, we probably shouldn’t put a ton of stock into the season opener considering that Texas A&M will be without two important players.

On the bright side, players like T.J. Starks, Jay Jay Chandler, and Savion Flagg should get valuable experience against a Mountaineer team that has Top 10 potential.
