Missouri freshman Michael Porter Jr. to see specialist for injury

November 21 update: Porter will undergo surgery and likely miss the rest of the season.

Missouri freshman Michael Porter Jr. will not play in Monday’s game against Emporia State.

According to the school, Porter has an appointment with a specialist for his injury and will not attend the game.

Porter has only played two minutes thus far this season after leaving the game early in the season opener against Iowa State.

The Tigers will head to Orlando on Thursday to play Long Beach State in the opening round of the Advocare Invitational.

Lovell’s Analysis

Well, this certainly isn’t an ideal start to the Porter era at Missouri.

What started off as nothing more than a “day-to-day” injury has turned into Porter being unavailable for a week and a half now.

Obviously, it makes no sense to play him in a game against Emporia State if there is even a one percent chance that the injury could worse. However, missing the game to see a specialist seems to point in the direction of this injury being more serious than anticipated.

But as I’ve said since this whole thing started, because there’s so little information coming out regarding the injury, all we can do is speculate.

If Porter misses the entire tournament in Orlando later this week, then the situation becomes a bit more concerning.
