Simi Shittu, a 5-star power forward in the 2018 recruiting class, has committed to Vanderbilt.
The 6-9 Vermont Academy product announced his commitment via The Player’s Tribune on Twitter:

Shittu was also considering considering North Carolina, but canceled his official visit several weeks ago.
He is ranked as the No. 6 overall prospect in ESPN’s Top 100 for the 2018 class.
Shittu is the second 5-star pickup for Bryce Drew in the class, with point guard Darius Garland (No. 11 overall) signing his national letter of intent with the Commodores last week.
Lovell’s Analysis
It’s certainly a good time to be a Vanderbilt basketball fan.
Drew is absolutely on fire on the recruiting trail, and with Garland and Shittu choosing the Commodores, that could influence Romeo Langford’s eventual decision.
Adding Garland and Shittu to the roster is great, but the addition of Langford would make this team extremely difficult to guard next season.
Shittu is an impact player that will ease some of the current concerns in the Vandy frontcourt. His strength and versatility easily makes him a future NBA talent, and he’s a great passer for a big man.
And, of course, there’s no doubt that playing alongside Garland (and possibly Langford) will make him an even better player.
Adding Shittu is simply a game-changer for the Commodores.
And the thing is, another one of those type of players could soon be joining he and Garland in Nashville.
