Bracketology: 10 SEC teams in the mix in Lunardi’s Jan. 15 bracket

The SEC is once again in great shape in Joe Lunardi’s updated bracketology for January 15.

The new bracket includes eight SEC teams currently in the field, with Auburn and Kentucky leading the way as No. 4 seeds.

However, two other teams have positioned themselves in good shape to add to the SEC’s overall total, as both Georgia and LSU are included in the First Four Out line.

The Bulldogs and Tigers suffered setbacks this past weekend with home losses, but it appears that they each sport strong enough resumes at this point to at least be in consideration.

Meanwhile, Alabama and Missouri are included in the Last Four Byes section with the Tigers sitting at a No. 10 seed and the Tide at No. 11.

Lovell’s Analysis

The numbers continue to love the SEC, and with 10 teams having a legitimate shot at making the field at this stage of the season, it’s been an incredible resurgence for the conference.

This is no longer a league that expects to get five or six teams in at the most, but rather one that should have at least half of its member schools dancing in March.

It’s interesting to see Georgia and LSU both in the mix, as had they won this past Saturday, they likely would have been included.

Still, Auburn is the best team in the league right now, and that is showing by their high seeding.

The Tigers have an intriguing week ahead, which will start with Wednesday’s showdown in Tuscaloosa against the Crimson Tide.
