SEC Bracketology: Auburn stays at No. 2 seed despite loss at Florida

We’re two weeks away from Selection Sunday, and plenty of SEC teams are still in the NCAA Tournament hunt.

Saturday’s results helped certain teams more than others, but it appears that eight is still the most likely number in terms of how many teams could be dancing in March.

According to the latest bracket update from USA Today bracketologist Shelby Mast, eight SEC teams are projected to make the field, and Auburn continues to lead the way.

Despite losing at Florida, the Tigers continue to stay on the 2-line and are only one win or a Tennessee loss away from securing at least a share of the SEC regular season title.

As for the Vols, they remain a no. 4 seed after winning at Ole Miss, but another team has moved ahead of them in the overall seeding.

Kentucky, who has now won three straight, is also on the 4-line and sits a spot in front of Tennessee at the moment. The Wildcats will wrap up the season at home against Ole Miss and on the road against Florida.

Meanwhile, Texas A&M is currently a No. 6 seed while Florida, Arkansas, and Missouri all sit on the 7-line.

The only SEC team that is trending downward is Alabama, as the Tide fell to a No. 9 seed after a home loss to Arkansas.

The Crimson Tide will likely need to win one of its final two games against Florida or Texas A&M to feel somewhat confident about securing an at-large bid.

Here’s the full seeding breakdown:

  • No. 2 Auburn
  • No. 4 Kentucky
  • No. 4 Tennessee
  • No. 6 Texas A&M
  • No. 7 Florida
  • No. 7 Arkansas
  • No. 7 Missouri
  • No. 9 Alabama
