Christian Mekowulu, a grad transfer from Tennessee State, has committed to Texas A&M.

Mekowulu chose to transfer and enter the 2018 NBA draft without an agent, which allowed him to retain his college eligibility for another season.

As a grad transfer, he will be eligible for the 2018-19 season.

The 6-9 forward averaged 12.7 points and 7.9 rebounds in 29.1 minutes per game this past season.

Adding Mekowulu is a positive development for Billy Kennedy and company, as the Aggies have lost several impact players this offseason.

Robert Williams, Tyler Davis, and DJ Hogg all entered the draft and signed with an agent, while the team also loses key rotation players in point guard Duane Wilson and 6-10 center Tonny Trocha-Morelos.

Texas A&M will return combo guard Admon Gilder and breakout point guard TJ Starks, who hit double figures in scoring in 12 of the team’s final 15 games.

The Aggies finished 22-13 overall and advanced to the Sweet 16 before losing to eventual national runner-up Michigan.
