Diante Smith, a 4-star forward in the 2019 recruiting class, has officially committed to Alabama.

The 6-6 small forward announced his decision via Twitter on Wednesday, which didn’t come as much of a surprise considering that the Crimson Tide had been the heavy favorite to land him.

Smith has been on Alabama’s radar for a while now and most recently took an unofficial visit to the school in mid-June.

According to 247Sports, he ranks as the No. 9 player in Florida and the No. 34 small forward in the 2019 class.

Smith also received interest from several other SEC schools, including Auburn, Florida, LSU, and Mississippi State.

He’s the first commitment for Avery Johnson and company in next year’s class.

Alabama is also considered to be in the mix for several elite 2019 recruits, including 5-star power forward Trendon Watford and fast-rising guards Kira Lewis and Jaykwon Walton.

The Tide went 20-16 overall last season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in six years.
