Alabama freshman Diante Wood out four months with ankle injury

Alabama freshman Diante Wood will miss four months after undergoing surgery on his left ankle.

Avery Johnson announced the news at the team’s first official practice on Tuesday.

Wood won four consecutive state titles at Sacred Heart Catholic High School (AL) and is one of three players in the Crimson Tide’s 2018 recruiting class.

Alabama loses Collin Sexton and Braxton Key from last season, but returns the rest of its rotation while adding Texas transfer Tevin Mack and 5-star point guard Kira Lewis.

The Crimson Tide will tip off the 2018-19 season on Nov. 6 against Southern.
