2018-19 SEC Basketball Preseason Media Poll: Kentucky picked at the top

The SEC released its 2018-19 men’s basketball preseason media poll on Wednesday morning, with a familiar face at the top.

Kentucky was picked to win the league yet again, which marked the 14th time since the 1998-99 season that the Wildcats were notched as the favorite.

Last season’s SEC regular season co-champions – Tennessee and Auburn – were picked second and third, respectively.

Mississippi State and Florida rounded out the top five.

Here’s a look at the full preseason media poll:

  1. Kentucky
  2. Tennessee
  3. Auburn
  4. Mississippi State
  5. Florida
  6. LSU
  7. Alabama
  8. Vanderbilt
  9. Missouri
  10. Arkansas
  11. South Carolina
  12. Texas A&M
  13. Georgia
  14. Ole Miss

After sending a record-setting eight teams to the NCAA Tournament last season, the league should have a shot at matching or exceeding that total this year.

Kentucky, Tennessee, and Auburn have been in the top 10 in the majority of preseason polls, and all three could have a legitimate shot at making a run to the Final Four.

The regular season tips off on Nov. 6.
