SEC Basketball Predictions: South Carolina vs. Missouri

It was a fun Saturday in the world of SEC basketball, as several teams picked up quality wins.

There is only one game on Sunday’s schedule, with Missouri and South Carolina set to play after travel issues prevented the game from happening yesterday.

Let’s get to the pick.

Season Predictions Record (straight up): 142-39

Missouri at South Carolina – 1 p.m. EST, SEC Network

This will be a game where both teams will try to impose their will on the defensive side of the court, and that has a lot to do with the coaching styles of Frank Martin and Cuonzo Martin.

The Gamecocks have secured two impressive wins to open up SEC play, and the Tigers will attempt to rebound from their loss to Tennessee earlier in the week.

It’s hard to believe that South Carolina could possibly move to 3-0 in the SEC after losing home games to Stony Brook and Wofford in non-conference play, but that’s the spot that Chris Silva and company find themselves in.

What stands out is Missouri’s ability to shoot the 3-pointer at an effective rate (23rd nationally at 39.1 percent), and that’s been an area of weakness for South Carolina’s defense (309th nationally at 37.7 percent).

Considering that the SEC can produce some wild results, I’ll lean towards the Tigers to pick up a huge road win.

Prediction: Missouri 64, South Carolina 62
