4/3 Update: Texas A&M has made the hiring official via Twitter.
Virginia Tech head coach Buzz Williams is set to become the new coach at Texas A&M.
It had been widely speculated that Williams was the Aggies’ top target since firing Billy Kennedy a few weeks ago.
And it appears that the Texas native will be introduced as Texas A&M’s next coach on Thursday, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

Williams led the Hokies to a 26-9 record this season, which included the school’s first Sweet 16 appearance since 1967. Virginia Tech came up just short against No. 1 seed Duke, with Williams’ team missing a shot in the lane that would’ve forced overtime.
He’s now made the NCAA Tournament eight times in 12 years as a head coach, with four Sweet 16 bids and one Elite Eight back in 2013.
Meanwhile, the Aggies struggled to a 14-18 record, and that led to Kennedy’s dismissal despite some recent tournament success.
He went 151-116 overall during his tenure in College Station.
