RJ Hampton, a 5-star guard in the 2020 recruiting class, has picked up an offer from Buzz Williams and Texas A&M.

The 6-4 combo guard is one of the best players in the class, and he is already being courted by top schools such as Duke, Kansas, and Kentucky.

And now Williams has quickly entered the mix just days after taking over as the Aggies’ new coach.

Hampton ranks as the top combo guard and No. 5 player overall in the 2020 class, according to 247Sports.

Texas A&M currently has no commitments for either the 2019 or 2020 classes after firing former head coach Billy Kennedy.

However, Williams has a proven history of being able to land elite talent, and he’ll try to use that to help the program find more consistency moving forward.

The Aggies finished 14-18 overall this past season after making the Sweet 16 two times in three years.

Williams led Virginia Tech to a 26-9 record while helping the program earn its first Sweet 16 appearance since 1967.
