Devan Cambridge, a 6-6 wing out of Hillcrest in Phoenix, has committed to Auburn and will join Bruce Pearl’s 2019 signing class.

Cambridge is originally from Athens (TN) and played with the Athletes of Tomorrow’s AAU team this summer, alongside some of the Tigers’ top 2020 targets like Sharife Cooper.

Cambridge’s recruitment blew up over the summer, earning him offers from schools such as Auburn and Oregon.

Beforehand he held offers from Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Western Kentucky, and others.

Last week’s Peach Jam saw Cambridge’s recruitment hit its peak after he scored 22 points on 11-of-14 shooting in AOT’s win over Meanstreets, and he followed that up with 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting in AOT’s win over Pro Skills.

He registered six blocks and six rebounds against Meanstreets, and eight rebounds, three assists, and two blocks against Pro Skills.

At the Peach Jam, Cambridge averaged 13.6 points per game on 63 percent field goal shooting and 41.7 percent shooting from three. He also averaged 5.2 rebounds per game, 3.0 blocks per game, and 1.6 assists per game at the event.

AOT went 4-0 in pool play before losing to Boo Williams in the Peach Jam’s “Elite Eight.”

Cambridge’s commitment continues the trend of raw athleticism in the Tigers’ 2019 class. After Cambridge committed to Auburn, Corey Evans of Rivals called him “one of the best athletes in America.”

With the commitments of Tyrell “Turbo” Jones, Isaac Okoro, Babatunde “Stretch” Akingbola, Jaylin Williams, Allen Flanigan, Javon Franklin and now Cambridge, Auburn has one of the most athletic signing classes in the country.

Pearl and company will add this class to a team that already sports Anfernee McLemore, Austin Wiley, Samir Doughty, J’Von McCormick and others, giving Auburn a team that looks athletic and extremely capable on defense.

Cambridge will join Okoro and Akingbola as alumni’s of AOT that now play for the Tigers, and that could be another recruiting advantage Auburn has in the upcoming battles for players like Sharife Cooper and BJ Boston.

Cooper and Boston both played AAU with Cambridge this summer, and both are 5-star players at the top of Auburn’s big-board in 2020. Dylan Cardwell, a 2020 big man, is another target from AOT.

Either way, Cambridge gives the Tigers a versatile player who should be able to play the three or four in Pearl’s system.

Cambridge looks like he has a high ceiling thanks to his athleticism, especially if his offensive skill-set continues to improve and develop.
